Oregon Tax Credits for Alternative Fuel Vehicles or Fueling Systems

For Oregon residents, tax credits for 25% of the cost or $750 (whichever is less) are available for the purchase or conversion of an alternative fuel vehicle and the purchase of alternative fuel infrastructure. Public entities and non profits may choose to transfer tax credits to a business or individual with an Oregon tax liability in exchange for a cash payment through the Oregon Department of Energy's Business Energy Tax Credit.

Federal Tax Credits for Buying an AFV

* Electric Vehicles up to $7,500 (Includes the Nissan Leaf)
* Hybrids up to $3,400 (Chrysler, Ford, GM, , Mazda ,Mercedes or Nissan have vehicles that qualify for this program. Toyota and Honda no longer have qualifying vehicles.)
* Diesel $3,400 (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen)
* Natural gas $4,000 (Includes Honda GX)
* Plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles (PHEVs) $7,500

Tax Credit for Homebuilders or Homeowners

Homebuilders or homeowners who install alternative fueling or charging devices at home or work are eligible for up to $750 in tax credits from the Oregon Department of Energy.
